ABOUT US

Take Irish, Spanish, and American, roll into one, add a 2001
KLR, the love of riding open roads, discovering new places,
meeting new people, making new connections and helping
local charities... and that's us!

We also care about the future of Guatemala. That's why
we do this, rides for Charity, where 100% of the proceeds
of the rides are given to local non-profit foundations.

We also have our own foundation, working in the villages
around Antigua Guatemala since 2010, to read more

ABOUT OUR NAME
MayaStrada

Maya is a Mesoamerican civilization, noted for the only known fully developed written language of the pre-Columbian Americas, as well as for its art, architecture, and mathematical and astronomical systems. Initially established during the Pre-Classic period (c. 2000 BC to AD 250), according to the Mesoamerican chronology, many Maya cities reached their highest state of development during the Classic period (c. AD 250 to 900), and continued throughout the Post-Classic period until the arrival of the Spanish.

Strada: In Italian means way, path, or road. This part of our name is also based on the famous motorcycle by Ducati - the Multistrada introduced by in 2003. The word Multistrada is Italian for many roads as the bike is designed to handle asphalt as well as some unpaved surfaces. Essentially the bike is a hybrid of a supermoto and a sport touring motorcycle.

... and on the more esoteric side of things...

Maya
(Sanskrit माया māyāa) in Indian religions, also has multiple meanings, usually quoted as "illusion", centered on the fact that we do not yet experience the environment directly but rather through some projection of it—Maya sustains the self by blessing self judgment of self creation. Maya is the principal deity that manifests, perpetuates and governs the illusion and dream of duality in the phenomenal Universe.
